What a THC Percentage Actually Measures
Raw cannabis contains very little active THC. What it holds is THCA, an acidic precursor that only converts to THC when heat is applied — when you light it, vape it, or bake it. So a percentage on a label is a projection of what the flower can become, not what is sitting in the jar.
That conversion is not one-to-one either. THCA is a heavier molecule, so the standard calculation multiplies it by roughly 0.877 before adding any THC already present. This is why you sometimes see the same batch quoted two ways — total cannabinoids reads higher than total THC, and the gap can be several points. When comparing numbers between sellers, check you are comparing the same measure.
Why Two Strains at the Same Number Feel Different
Potency and character are separate things. THC content sets the ceiling on strength; terpenes shape almost everything else — how it smells, how it tastes, and whether the effect reads as heavy or bright. A moderate-testing strain with a dense terpene profile frequently outperforms a higher-testing one that smells of nothing.

Tolerance, and Starting Sensibly
Strong flower is not a competition. Tolerance varies enormously between people and shifts with frequency of use, so a quantity that suits a daily smoker can be far too much for someone occasional. Take less than you think you need with anything unfamiliar and wait before going further — you can always have more, and the reverse is not true.
If a strong strain leaves you uncomfortable rather than relaxed, that is usually dose rather than product. Stepping down to something in our AAA range often gives a better experience than pushing the number higher.
